Joss Baynes

Hi! I’m Joss, I have just finished studying Political Science and French at University College London (UCL), having achieved a first-class degree. I studied some Political Philosophy during my degree, and got an A* in OCR A-Level Religious Studies, so I know exactly how to ace this exam!

I have been tutoring for over three years now, and have taught over 1000 hours of Maths, English, Religious Studies and French. I’m currently tutoring full time in London whilst I figure out what to do with my life. Last year, I taught three students A Level Religious Studies and all of them exceeded their predicted grades and got into their top choice university.

My approach is to focus on building up a fundamental understanding of what each exam requires, and what the examiners are looking for in your answers. I am a big believer in playing the game when it comes to exams because this ensures that your effort is rewarded with good grades. This approach has worked for me in all the exams I have taken and for the students I have taught too! For my students who aren’t in exam years, my lessons are geared towards familiarising them with exam style questions and techniques.

While the content of my lessons is serious, I am a fairly relaxed guy, and I try to make my lessons as fun as possible. I love getting to know my students and would be more than happy to give advice on university applications or any other advice that might be useful!

Outside of academic life, I love playing football and rugby, and am a DJ.
